Meals on Wheels gets help

Advertiser Staff

The Lanakila Meals on Wheels program has received a $25,000 matching grant from Island Insurance Foundation. The money is meant to help close the funding gap the organization faces in providing meal services to homebound elders.

Any further donations to Lanakila Meals on Wheels will be matched dollar for dollar up to $25,000 by Island Insurance. Donations can be mailed to 1809 Bachelot St., Honolulu, HI 96817; call 531-0555; or via www.lanakilahawaii.org.

The program helps more than 700 older O'ahu residents who have disabilities that prevent them from cooking or shopping. It provides them with meals in their homes, counseling and referral services.

Correction: Island Insurance will match donations to Lanakila Meals on Wheels dollar-for-dollar up to $25,000. A previous version of this story incorrectly said the amount was $25.
