Man, 30, critical after single-car crash in Waianae

Advertiser Staff

A 30-year-old Wai'anae man is in critical condition following a single-car crash last night. The man lost control of his vehicle and ran over a fence and into a concrete wall on Wai'anae High School property.

The accident occurred at 10:57 p.m., police said.

The man was taken to The Queen's Medical Center and remains in critical condition. Police said the driver of the white, four-door 1993 Honda Accord was traveling west down Farrington Highway at a high rate of speed and passing vehicles when he lost control, veered across the east-bound lanes and over a curb, through a fence and into a wall on the high school's property.

He was not believed to be wearing his seat belt, police said, but the airbag deployed. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
