DOE offering free summer meals to children at 12 sites

The Department of Education's school food services branch is providing free meals to all children under 19 years of age at 12 public school sites during the summer.

The summer food service program for children is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

An eligible school must have 50 percent or more of its regular enrolled students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunches and some type of summer program on campus.

Meal recipients, however, do not have to be enrolled in any school summer programs.

Meals are being offered Monday through Friday except on July 4 at the following locations:

  • 'Anuenue School. Through July 13, 11 a.m.-noon.

  • 'Ewa Beach Elementary. Through July 6, 10:30-10:45 a.m.

  • Fern Elementary. Through July 20, 11-11:30 a.m.

  • Jarrett Middle. Through July 11, 12:05-12:25 p.m.

  • Kahuku High & Intermediate. Through July 16, breakfast at 7:30-7:50 a.m. and lunch at 11-11:30 a.m.

  • Ka'imiloa Elementary. Through July 7, 10:40-11 a.m.

  • Kapa'a Elementary (Kaua'i). Through July 13, 9:45-10 a.m.

  • Lanakila Elementary. Through July 6, 11-11:30 a.m.

  • Linapuni Elementary. Through July 6, breakfast at 7:30-7:50 a.m., and lunch at 11-11:30 a.m.

  • Nanaikapono Elementary. Through July 6, breakfast at 7:30-7:50 a.m. and lunch at 11:30-noon.

  • Pohakea Elementary. Through July 13, 10:30-11 a.m.

  • Waimea Elementary (Big Island). Through Monday, 11:30 a.m.-noon.
