Tanoue will command Maui police Kihei division

Advertiser Staff

Jeffrey Tanoue, Hawai'i State Law Enforcement's officer of the year in 1995, was promoted to the rank of Maui police captain and district commander of the Kihei patrol division earlier this month.

Tanoue, a 23-year veteran of the Maui Police Department, commanded the traffic section before his promotion. Lt. Robert Hill succeeded Tanoue as traffic commander.

In addition to his officer of the year honors, Tanoue was twice named the department's manager of the year, in 1995 and 1998.
