Football: Chang earns backup role in CFL

Advertiser Staff

Former University of Hawai'i quarterback Tim Chang has been named the backup quarterback for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League, according to a report in the Hamilton Spectator.

Chang will be the backup to Jason Maas when the Tiger-Cats open their season Saturday against Calgary.

"Timmy Chang will be the No. 2 (quarterback)," head coach Charlie Taaffe told the Spectator. "I think he has certainly had a good camp, an outstanding game in Winnipeg, so he'll start the season as the backup."

Chang completed 10 of 17 passes for 239 yards and two touchdowns as the Tiger-Cats defeated Winnipeg, 35-23, in an exhibition game on June 14.

Chang signed with Hamilton in March.
