Agencies respond to mock Hawaii anthrax attack

Advertiser Staff

Federal, state and city agencies practiced responding to a bioterrorism attack at the U.S. Postal Service's main facility at Honolulu International Airport this afternoon.

The Postal Service's biohazard detection system sounded an alert today as if an actual letter containing anthrax had been detected at the postal facility, sending nearly 200 postal workers outside.

A handful of postal employees were hosed down, stripped down and treated as if they had possibly been exposed to anthrax.
