Search under way for snakes in Kauai's Hanalei River

Advertiser Staff

LIHU'E, Kaua'i — Wildlife and agriculture officials are searching the Hanalei River area today for snakes, after three young kayakers reported seeing one fall from a tree.

The kayakers, a 16-year-old and two 8-year-old girls, told authorities they saw what appeared to be a gray snake fall from a tree limb into the river Tuesday. There has been at least one previous snake report from the Hanalei River area.
