Holasek takes over as NovaSol chief

The co-founder and vice president of Honolulu-based high-tech company NovaSol has been named president of the firm.

Rick Holasek takes over from David Van Buren, who stepped down as chairman of the board and chief executive officer, according to the company. Van Buren will continue supporting the company as a Washington-based consultant.

Barry Swartz, another co- founder, will become chairman of the board of directors.

Headquartered in Honolulu with a branch office in San Diego, NovaSol specializes in electro-optical systems for reconnaissance, optical communications and biochemical detection systems for military, homeland security and commercial applications.
