Roadwork under way on Kamehameha Highway in Aiea

Advertiser Staff

The state Department of Transportation will continue work on Kamehameha Highway in the 'Aiea area — in front of Sam's Club — through next week, according to spokesman Scott Ishikawa.

The highway's east-bound lane — between Ala 'Ike Street and Waimano Home Road/Lehua Avenue — and west-bound lane — between Waimano Home Road/Lehua Avenue and Waihona Street — have been closed since Monday. DOT scheduled repaving work for this week, and restriping for next week.

"Restriping shouldn't be too much of a disturbance (to motorists)," he said. "When we repaved, we had to shut down all the lanes, which caused some traffic" backups.
