Small-craft advisory issued for Hawaii channels

Advertiser Staff

A small-craft advisory for all channels between the main Hawaiian Islands as well as waters off West Hawai'i is in effect until 6 p.m. today, the National Weather Service said.

Strong winds are being caused by a strong high-pressure system northwest of the state.

East winds of 20 knots are expected.

In addition, a wind advisory has been issued for Big Island summits. Sustained winds of 30 mph to 35 mph with occasional higher gusts are expected through this afternoon.
