CrimeStoppers seeking KSSK burglars

By Kim Fassler
Advertiser Staff Writer

Honolulu police are asking for the public's help in catching two men who broke into the business offices of KSSK radio and stole wallets, and video and digital cameras.

The offices are at 650 Iwilei Road.

The burglary occurred June 5 and the missing items were discovered June 6 by employees arriving at work at about 8:15 a.m., CrimeStoppers coordinator Sgt. Kim Buffett said at a news conference today.

An inventory of stolen items is still being compiled, and the value of the items was not available, Buffet said.

A surveillance video shows a man searching through cubicles between 5:34 p.m. and 5:38 p.m.

"I think they just did a random search and got lucky," said Buffett, who advised all office workers to lock their desks when they step out of the office.

If the burglars are caught, Central Pacific Bank will donate $5,000 instead of the usual $1,000 to the Central Pacific Bank Citizens Against Troublemakers and Criminals in Hawaii (CATCH) fund, said Beth Greenhill, a spokeswoman for the bank.

In a separate, unrelated incident, two men in a white, four-door sedan were caught on video breaking through a parking garage gate at The Sultan Co., 3049 Ualena St. in Honolulu. The men drove to the basement of the parking structure and broke into the business, but did not take anything.

Police ask anyone with information about either incident to call CrimeStoppers at 935-8300 or *CRIME on cellular phones, or visit the CrimeStoppers Web site at http://www.crimestoppers-honolulu.org.

CrimeStoppers will pay a cash reward of up to $1,000 leading to the arrest of suspects in either case.
