Six libraries to offer 'Mystery Writing 101' program

The Hawai'i State Public Library will present "Delicious Murders: Mystery Writing 101," a special summer program featuring mystery author Jerrilyn Farmer.

In this one–hour program — geared for aspiring writers age 12 and older — Farmer will share basic information on how to write a mystery novel.

The programs are scheduled at six O'ahu public libraries, July 8 to 12. Admission is free.

  • Kane'ohe Public Library, July 8 at 2 p.m.

  • Mililani Public Library, July 9 at 6:30 p.m.

  • Hawai'i State Library, July 10 at noon

  • Kapolei Public Library, July 10 at 6:30 p.m.

  • Waikiki–Kapahulu Public Library, July 11 at 2 p.m.

  • McCully–Moili'ili Public Library, July 12 at 6:30 p.m.

    California-born Farmer has authored seven acclaimed, award–winning Madeline Bean novels (Harper Collins Publishers): "The Flaming Luau of Death," "Perfect Sax," "Mumbo Gumbo," "Dim Sum Dead, "Killer Wedding," "Immaculate Reception" and "Sympathy for the Devil."

    Farmer teaches mystery writing at the UCLA Extension Writer's Program.
