Castle Resorts promotes Alan Mattson to president

Castle Resorts & Hotels this week announced a new president and several new positions and promotions as part of a strategic reorganization to position the company for growth and expansion in emerging markets and in the destinations it currently serves — Hawai'i, Micronesia and New Zealand.

The company promoted Alan Mattson to chief operating officer/president for Castle Resorts & Hotels. Mattson oversees all operations for the Hawai'i, Micronesia and New Zealand divisions of Castle Resorts.

In his new role, he is also responsible for strategically growing the company including exploring emerging markets. He joined Castle in September, 1999 as senior vice president of sales and marketing with over 20 years of senior level hospitality and travel industry experience.

He had been vice president of sales and marketing for Dollar Rent A Car; director of global marketing for Avis Car Rental, operating out of the Avis worldwide headquarters in New York; and held senior level sales and marketing positions in the Hilton Hotels Corp.

William Koo was appointed to the newly created position of chief marketing strategist for the management company's 22 resorts and condominiums located throughout Hawai'i, New Zealand and Micronesia.

Koo is responsible for leading the strategic planning and directing the sales, marketing and reservations. His responsibilities include revenue development, channel distribution and interactive marketing initiatives.

Koo joins Castle with an extensive background in hospitality sales and marketing with the past eight years at ResortQuest Hawai'i. He most recently served as vice president of channel management and travel distribution. Koo was recognized by Travel Agent Magazine as "Top 100 Rising Stars" in the hospitality industry in 2002.

Donna Wheeler was named senior director of marketing where she is responsible for overseeing Castle's brand marketing strategies and leading advertising, promotions, events, direct and interactive marketing efforts.

Wheeler joins Castle with more than 25 years of experience in the Hawai'i lodging industry and was most recently assistant vice president of marketing at ResortQuest Hawai'i.

Prior to that, she was general manager of the Waikiki Beachside Hotel, Waikiki Joy Hotel and assistant manager of the Waikiki Beach Tower.

Lori Dydasco was promoted to senior director of retail sales for Hawai'i and Micronesia. She is a veteran in the hospitality industry with more than 25 years of experience and has been with Castle for over eight years specializing in the military, government and corporate markets.

In her new role Dydasco will lead the retail sales team in Hawai'i and Micronesia. Dydasco joined Castle as director of sales at the Waikiki Terrace Hotel before joining the corporate sales team seven years ago.

Racquel Hidaro joins Castle's sales team with over 10 years in the travel industry with extensive sales background in selling inter-island packages throughout Hawaii to retail travel agents and military bases. As retail sales manager for Castle Resorts, she is responsible for the kamaaina, military and government markets.

Michael Orozco joins Castle marketing team in the newly created position of interactive marketing manager. He oversees Castle's online marketing strategy and programs associated with all interactive marketing communication media.

Castle Resorts & Hotels manages hotels and condominiums on the islands of O'ahu, Maui, Kaua'i, Moloka'i and the Big Island of Hawai'i; on Saipan and Guam in Micronesia; and on New Zealand's North Island. Castle manages more than 2,700 hotel rooms and condominium units and employs more than 600 resort, hotel and corporate staff.
