Piano recital Sunday benefits Lab School

Advertiser Staff

Pianist Wendy Yamashita and her long-time teacher and mentor Ernest Chang are joining forces for a piano recital to benefit the University Laboratory School Alumni Association's Fire Fund.

Both Lab School graduates, Yamashita and Chang will perform July 1 at 4 p.m. at Mimiya Theatre, Saint Louis Arts Center.

Yamashita received a bachelor and masters of music from the famed Juilliard School where she studied on scholarship under Chang's teacher, the legendary artist Adele Marcus.

On June 13, 2006, a fire completely destroyed a University Laboratory School building that housed the school's athletics, choral, drama, Hawaiian culture and music programs. Proceeds will benefit the restoration of those programs.

General admission tickets are $20 and student and senior tickets are $12.

Tickets may be reserved by calling Lion Mel Aoki at 394-8811, or at the door.

Tickets may also be purchased by downloading the ticket order form at http://www.hawaii.edu/labschool/07recital.doc. Additional tax-deductible donations are welcome.
