2 bills tied to homeless, housing issues signed into law

Advertiser Staff

Two bills meant to address the homeless and affordable housing problem were signed into law this morning.

One gives $6 million for homeless programs, extends conveyance tax deposits into a fund meant to increase the stock of affordable housing units and starts a registry that will give the state an inventory of existing affordable housing units.

The other allows the Hawaii Public Housing Authority to set the amount of rent subsidies for qualified participants in the State Rent Supplement Program.
