News Release
Honolulu Preparation for the state's largest 4th of July firework display will begin this Saturday, June 30, resulting in the temporary closure of Magic Island's lagoon beach. The lagoon will remain closed to the public while crews from Pyrospectacular the company contracted by Ala Moana Center to produce and set up the fireworks make preparations for the 18-minute show.Every year, Ala Moana Center sponsors the fireworks display, which remains one of the few privately funded shows in the entire country. Since 1991, Ala Moana Center has generously contributed close to $3.75 million to fund the event.
As the event continues to grow, so does the number of visitors and local residents that turn out for Ala Moana Center's July 4 event. This year Ala Moana Center is expecting more than 200,000 residents around the island to view the fireworks show.
The lagoon area will reopen to the public on Friday, July 6.
