Former Big Island resident Kimberly Kim was 3-over-par after 17 holes and 10-over overall when thunder and lightning postponed the second round of the U.S. Women's Open Championship at the Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C.

Honolulu's Michelle Wie had yet to tee off when the second round wass postponed until tomorrow. Wie is at 11 over after an 82 yesterday. The early projected cut was 7 over.

Kim, 15, finished the first round this morning with a 7-over-par 78.

Kim, who lives in Arizona, returned to the course early today after a 3.5-hour weather delay forced suspension of the first round because of darkness yesterday.

The field will be cut to low 60 and ties plus anyone within 10 strokes of the leader following the second round.
