Libraries celebrate Celtic culture

Advertiser Staff

As part of the 2007 Hawai'i State Library Children's Summer Reading Program, five O'ahu public libraries will be hosting Celtic Keiki Celebration of Independence Day.

The Celtic Keiki will present a Celebration of Red, White and Blues Clues as part of the summer reading theme, "Get A Clue @ Your library!"

Dancers Caleigh, Delia and Tristan Fabro, under the direction of Lorraine Suankum, will present a program that explores how Celtic music and dance have influenced America's musical heritage. The dancers will also pay homage to the music of George M. Cohan, John Philip Sousa and The Andrews Sisters in song and dance. Using Blues Clues questions and trivia, the Celtic Keiki will encourage the children to "Get A Clue" about reading this summer.

These 45-minute programs are free and suitable for all ages. Children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Contact the host library seven to 10 days before the event if a sign-language interpreter or other special accommodation is needed. For more information, contact the host library.
