Advertiser Staff

MILOLI'I, Hawai'i — An intruder threatened a 15-year-old girl and stole five medical marijuana plants from a rural South Kona home on Tuesday, Big Island police said.

The crime occurred shortly after 3 p.m. when a man entered the residence, located off Highway 11 near Miloli'i, police said. The girl was home alone and was prevented from leaving by the robber, who announced he was planning to steal items from the property, police said.

Witnesses saw a red truck containing four or five males near the home just before the incident. Shortly after the robbery, the same truck was seen leaving the home and traveling north on Highway 11, police said.

Detectives have identified a 44-year-old man as a suspect in the case, but he was not immediately arrested.
