Patton will help boost your speed

Advertiser Staff

Former University of Hawai'i cornerback Kenny Patton will be the featured instructor at this weekend's Hawai'i Speed and Quickness clinics at the UH athletic complex.

"I love helping kids," Patton said. "It ends up working out both ways. Hopefully, I can help them become better athletes. And I get a good workout, too."

Patton recently returned to Hawai'i after being released by the Oakland Raiders.

He said he trains in the morning and works afternoons at Weyerhaeuser, a containerboard packaging plant.

"It's an awesome job," he said.

Patton said he hopes to receive an invitation to an NFL training camp. "If not, I'll wait until January. Maybe I can get something with NFL Europe."

This weekend's clinics are open to all ages. Sessions are 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

The $10 fee includes instruction in plyometrics and resistance training. Each participant receives coupons to Jack in the Box and Jamba Juice. Scholarships are available.
