Pop superstar Rain cancels Los Angeles concert

Advertiser Staff and News Services

LOS ANGELES — A concert by South Korean pop superstar Rain scheduled Saturday at Staples Center was canceled, the Los Angeles Times reported.

"Due to issues related to the show's production, we regrettably have to cancel tonight's Rain concert," a message on the arena's Web site read.

Ticketholders were told full refunds would be made from the original point of purchase beginning Monday.

Promoters said more than 80 percent of the concert tickets had been sold, with fans flying in from as far away as Tokyo, Seoul and Hong Kong.

The Seoul-born R&B singer-dancer-actor has often been referred to as the "Justin Timberlake of Asia."

Rain canceled the other shows on his six-city U.S. tour, which included Honolulu, last month. Promoters in Hawai'i have since sued the performer, alleging fraud.
