Matson joins with J.B Hunt to streamline China service

Matson Navigation Co., Matson Integrated Logistics and J.B. Hunt Transport Services are linking up as partners in providing new shipping services from Long Beach, Calif. to China.The companies say this will result in "new guaranteed, expedited services from Ningbo and Shanghai to Long Beach and various U.S. inland destinations under a single invoice."
By offering these new services, the companies said they can offer economies of scale on inland transportation costs by reducing the number of containers moved to the final destination. They can used J.B. Hunt 53-foot containers to consolidate cargo from ocean containers into a smaller number of domestic containers.
Matson senior vice president Dave Hoppes said, "In the past year, Matson's China — Long Beach Express has built a reputation for reliable, expedited services in the transpacific trade."
He added, "by offering customers the option of a premium, guaranteed express service, Matson is further raising the bar in terms of customer satisfaction in providing superior quality and value."
