Husband arrested in knifepoint-threat incident in car

Advertiser Staff

Police arrested a 39-year-old Waialua man yesterday after he allegedly put a knife to his wife's neck and threatened to harm her.

The wife, 40, told police she was driving her car about 5:45 a.m on Nakula Street in Wahiawa when she noticed someone in the back seat. She said she realized it was her husband as he grabbed her around the neck and put a knife to her throat.

The wife told police her husband ordered her to move over to the passenger seat and threatened to harm her if she did not comply.

The woman told police she then stopped the car and forced her way out of it as her husband tried to stop her by pulling on her hair.

Police said the woman managed to run to a neighbor's house and asked that police be called.

The husband drove the car away before police arrived. He turned himself in later in the morning at the Wahiawa Police Station where he was arrested on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening.
