Bishop Museum holds program on Polynesian voyaging

The two-day program "Traditions of the Pacific" will focus on Polynesia's past next month.It begins with a presentation, "Ben Finney: Navigating Into Polynesia's Past," at 6 p.m. April 12 at the Atherton Halau of Bishop Museum; $5 (free for members). Nautical anthropologist and Polynesian Voyaging Society founder Finney presents an illustrated lecture on the rebirth of Polynesian voyaging.
The second day includes a field trip to the canoe hale at He'eia State Park with Bobby Puakea to see Hawaiian canoe building; 10 a.m. April 14 ; $10 ($5 members).
