HILO
Fugitive from Kaua'i arrested

Advertiser Staff

Big Island police on Wednesday arrested a man in Hilo who is wanted for attempted second-degree murder on Kaua'i.

Matthew Davidson, 33, is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. Davidson was indicted in January for allegedly pushing a van into the Kapa'a canal with a woman still inside on Christmas Day.

Kaua'i police had reported Davidson was on the Big Island with a woman, and that the two were frequenting Ho'okena, Hilo and Puna. Big Island police then tracked Davidson to a business on Apapane Street in Hilo.

Davidson allegedly ran when he saw police, but was captured at 8:30 a.m., police said.
