LOGAN, Utah -- Kevin Bell scored a career-high 25 points to lead Fresno State past Utah State University 71-66 tonight.

The Aggies (21-10, 9-7 WAC) were led by Chaz Spicer with a career-high 22 points. Stephen DuCharme dropped in 13 and Durrall Peterson added 12.

The victory gave Fresno State the No. 3 seed in next week's WAC Tournament in Las Cruces, N.M. Utah State is the No. 4 seed in the tournament and will play the No. 5 seed, Hawaii, in the tournament.

FSU trailed in the game until 8:35 left in the game when McGuire hit a short jumper and gave the Bulldogs the lead, 47-45. The teams then traded leads in an exchange of four consecutive 3-point shots.

Moments later, with 2:40 to play, Fresno took the lead for good, 63-62, when McGuire threw down a dunk, receiving a lob pass from Bell.

USU's leading scorer on the season, Jaycee Carroll (21.5 ppg) was held to a season-low six points on 2-for-12 shooting. The Bulldog win broke a 13-game home winning streak by USU, their only home loss on the season.

Fresno led much of the first half behind 11 points from Bell, who shot 4-for-6 from the field in the half. USU took their first lead at 16-14 when Stephen DuCharme hit a layup with 10:10 remaining.

Fresno made only five of 19 3-point attempts in the first half, and USU led at halftime 34-23.
