Big Island hiker found after two days

Advertiser Staff

A disoriented hiker who spent two days wandering lava fields on the Big Island was found this morning.

The man, identified as Milbert Kusler, was uninjured.

Big Island firefighters said the man got lost after trying to return to his car at night. He had been watching lava flows. Once the sun rose, he again lost his way.

The man spent two nights in a forested area and was found in open lava fields at about 11:20 a.m. today.
