Kaua'i fugitive arrested on Big Island

Advertiser Staff

Hawai'i County police on Wednesday arrested a Kaua'i fugitive who was wanted by Kaua'i police on suspicion of attempted murder.

Matthew Davidson, 33, was being held at the Hilo police cellblock pending extradition to Kaua'i.

On Feb. 22, the Hawai'i Police Department received information from the Kaua'i Police Department that Davidson was on the Big Island with a woman and that the two were frequenting the Ho'okena, Hilo and Puna areas.

Acting on leads, police tracked Davidson to a business on Apapane Street in Hilo. When Davidson saw police at the scene Wednesday morning, he tried to run away but was immediately apprehended without incident. He was taken into custody at 8:30 a.m.
