Chaminade tops UH-Hilo in women's basketball, 74-67

Brittnee Fonnesbeck amassed 34 points and 17 rebounds as Chaminade defeated host Hawai'i-Hilo, 74-67, on Sunday in the season finale for both women's basketball teams at Honoka'a Armory gym.Desiree Staples added 15 points and Samantha Saito 13 for the Silverswords (5-18). Saito's jumper with 2:41 left in the half put Chaminade ahead to stay at 29-27, and Staples hit four free throws and Fonnesbeck two in a 6-0 run that gave the Silverswords a 66-56 lead with 1:06 remaining. Fonnesbeck was 19 of 21 from the free-throw line.
Amy Kaaiakamanu had 16 points and 11 rebounds, Sheila Azevedo added 15 points, and Chrystal Hodson contributed 13 rebounds and nine points for the Vulcans (6-18).
