UH-Hilo sweeps Grand Canyon in softball

Meghan Jost had two hits and three RBIs, and Leo Sing Chow and Brittany Dock each contributed two hits and two RBIs, as host Hawai'i-Hilo beat Grand Canyon, 9-1, today to complete a Pacific West Conference softball doubleheader sweep at Honoka'a County Park.Sing Chow's RBI double with two outs in the bottom of the fifth ended the game by mercy rule and made a winner of Sarah Weisskopf, who scattered six hits while striking out one and walking none.
In the opener, Tracy Ryan pitched a three-hitter with five strikeouts and no walks, and Charity Senas had two hits and two RBIs to lead the Vulcans to a 5-1 win.
Hilo improved to 16-2 overall and 4-0 in the PacWest. Randi Johns had three hits and an RBI in the two games for Grand Canyon, which fell to 11-12 and 2-2.
