Hawai'i teenager Moore loses in women's surf final

Advertiser Staff

Hawai'i teenager Carissa Moore lost in the final of the Roxy Pro, the first event on the 2007 ASP Women's World Tour.

Moore, 14, who became the youngest surfer ever to reach a final on the ASP Women's Tour, was beaten by Australia's Chelsea Hedges, 11.33-6.70, today at Snapper Rocks in Coolangatta, Australia.

Moore, an amateur who had to win a separate trials event to earn a spot in the Roxy Pro, defeated fellow Hawai'i surfer Megan Abubo, 16.50-7.64, in the quarterfinals and Australia's Rebecca Woods, 15.43-10.50, in the semifinals earlier in the day.
