'Iolani alum Low named all-Pac 10

'Iolani alum and Washington State junior guard Derrick Low was named to the all-Pacific 10 Conference basketball team, the conference announced today.

Low, a four-time All-State player who led 'Iolani to three state titles, has started all 30 games and is the team's leading scorer at 13.5 points per game. He helped lead Washington State to a 24-6 record, its most victories in 66 years. The last WSU team to win at least 24 games was in 1940-41, when the team won a school-record 26 games.

In a vote of the 10 conference coaches, UCLA junior guard Arron Afflalo was named the Player of the Year, Arizona forward Chase Budinger was named the Freshman of the Year and Tony Bennett of Washington State was the Pac-10 Coach of the Year.

Also on the nine-player team was Low's teammate, Kyle Weaver, a junior guard. UCLA's Darren Collison also was named to the team, which features five guards and another who plays guard-forward.
