Hawai'i Kai library hosts comedic Japanese theater

Advertiser Staff

The Hawai'i Kai Public Library will be hosting a form of traditional comedic Japanese theater at 6 p.m. today in the meeting room.

"Kyogen: On the Go!" is a free mini-performance and workshop.

In English, the Japanese word kyogen means "mad words" or "wild speech," and the art form has been studied in Japan for more than 600 years.

Following this one-play performance, a kyogen workshop will be led by cast members.

The event is co-sponsored by the University of Hawai'i at Manoa Outreach College's Statewide Cultural Extension Program and the Friends of the Hawai'i Kai Public Library.
