Kamake'e Street gas line fixed; traffic still restricted

Advertiser Staff

A broken gas line has been repaired on Kamake'e Street in Kaka'ako and gas service is expected to be restored later today, while traffic continues to be restricted in the area.

A contractor repairing a sewer line across from Onjin's Cafe accidentally cut into the gas line shortly after 2 a.m. and police restricted traffic from Queen Street to Kawaiha'o Street, said Steve Golden, spokesman for The Gas Co.

A repair crew fixed the line and was working to clear it of air and restore gas service this morning, Golden said.

Two lines provide the area with service and Golden said, "I am not aware of any customers that are without gas."
