Kuhio parade seeks partakers

Advertiser Staff

The Kuakini Hawaiian Civic Club of South Kona is seeking participants for a parade in Kailua, Kona, in honor of Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalaniana'ole.

Kuhio served a prison sentence for trying to restore the monarchy after Queen Lili'uokalani was overthrown, and was later elected to the U.S. Congress. He is probably best known for winning passage of the Hawaiian Homes Commission Act.

The club is seeking participants including marching units, crafters, food vendors, hula halau, entertainers and others for the parade on March 24.
