HILO, Hawai'i — A nephew of bounty hunter and television personality Duane "Dog" Chapman was critically injured early Sunday morning when his vehicle struck a tree in Lower Puna near the Lava Tree State Park.

Justin DeRago Bihag, 24, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants, driving without a license, driving without no-fault insurance and inattention to driving, said Big Island police spokeswomen Chris Loos.

The single-car accident on Highway 132 was reported to police at about 2:20 a.m., Loos said.

Bihag, of Pahoa, has appeared in episodes of the popular television series "Dog The Bounty Hunter." After the crash he was taken to Hilo Medical Center and later transported to The Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu.

A spokeswoman for Queen's said Bihag remains at the hospital, but declined to release any information about his condition.

Loos said Big Island police policy does not permit disclosure of blood-alcohol content.
