The Kamehameha Schools' annual (and always sold out) song contest, celebrating the music of Mary Kawena Pukui, will be televised live on KGMB-9 from 7 to 10 p.m. March 23. The TV coverage includes a pre-show program, "Kamehameha Schools Celebrates Mary Kawena Pukui," chronicling the life of the composer, at 7 p.m. March 22.

For the first time, the school is offering a DVD and digital audio and video downloads of the competition, with proceeds benefitting Ke Ali'i Pauahi Foundation. For details, go to http://www.ksbe.edu.

The song contest, taking place at the Blaisdell Arena, will be simulcast on KUMU-FM 94.7 and KMKK-FM 102.3, with a Web cast at ksbe.edu.

For the competition, 1,800 Kamehameha students in grades 9 through 12 will sing a cappella Pukui's songs arranged by Robert Cazimero, Les Ceballos, Aaron Sala, Randie K. Fong and Kyle Mori.

KGMB will rebroadcast the program at 1:30 p.m. March 25.
