Man arrested after head-butting incident

A 28-year-old man was arrested early this morning for allegedly assaulting a police officer last night.Police said patrol officers were sent to an undisclosed Honolulu location to check on a report of a man behaving irrationally.
When one of the responding officers arrived at the location, he was reportedly rushed, punched and head-butted by the man who was reported to be acting up.
The man was eventually wrestled to the ground and taken to The Queen's Medical Center for observation, police said.
Police said the hospital called about 12:30 a.m. to say the man was going to be released.
Officers then went to the hospital and arrested the man on suspicion of assaulting a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.
Suspicious device contained 'consumer-type' firecrackers
A 53-year-old Liliha area man caused a stir late last night after police officers saw the man place a suspicious device against the fence that runs along H-1 Freeway near North School Street near downtown Honolulu.
After a closer look, police officers reported finding what appeared to be a homemade explosive device.
Police arrested the man about 11 p.m. on suspicion of first-degree reckless endangering and ownership of a bomb.
The Police Department's Specialized Services Division and Bomb Squad were called to the scene and determined that the device was basically several rolled up pieces of cardboard that contained "paperless consumer-type" firecrackers.
Police said the Bomb Squad determined that the device did not contain a significant enough amount of explosive to generate the kind of gas or air pressure to result in damaging explosive force.
Criminal charges were dropped against the man but he was issued a violation for allegedly violating the fireworks ordinance.
Former boyfriend arrested in choking incident
A 28-year-old Wahiawa man was arrested yesterday for allegedly choking his former girlfriend, also 28, about 10 p.m. Sunday.
Police said the woman reported the incident away from the scene and that the suspect was arrested yesterday on suspicion of felony abuse of a household or family member.
Traffic infraction leads to arrest in tie to stolen vehicle
A 42-year-old Waimanalo man was arrested about 7:15 p.m. yesterday after police found him at the wheel of a stolen car.
Police said patrol officers saw the man commit a minor traffic violation and were preparing to give the man a ticket when they learned the car he was driving had been reported stolen.
Police arrested the driver on suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.
Man arrested in knife-threat incident
A 42-year-old 'Ewa Beach man was arrested about 6:30 p.m. Monday after he allegedly threatened his 44-year-old roommate with a knife.
Police were told the two men were arguing at their home on Pokakupuna Road when the younger man pulled a knife and threatened to stab the older one.
Patrol officers were called to the scene and arrested the younger man on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening.
