LIHU'E
Lot owners get form extension

Advertiser Staff

Kaua'i owners of certain agriculture and open-zoned properties have through June 15 to apply for an additional dwelling unit (ADU) facilities clearance form.

Only certain lots qualify, and no further ADUs will be authorized on nonresidential-zoned land after that. ADU authority on such lots was to have lapsed last year, but the County Council extended it to allow current owners to seek approval.

"This is their last chance," said planning director Ian Costa.

If clearance is granted, owners have through Dec. 15, 2009, to receive a building permit.
