Advertiser Staff

The state Department of Health Clean Water Branch announced Tuesday it has issued fines to the County of Maui for storm water permit and other violations at the Hana Sanitary Landfill, Lana'i Sanitary Landfill and Moloka'i Integrated Solid Waste Facility.

Fines imposed are $12,700 at the Hana Sanitary landfill, $17,600 for the Lana'i Sanitary Landfill and $32,000 for the Moloka'i Integrated Solid Waste Facility.

The fines and violations were announced in a DOH news release.

The County of Maui has 20 days to contest the order, and if it does, the matter will be set for hearing.
