Big Island police arrest 39 for DUI in week span

Thirty-nine motorists were arrested for drunk driving on the Big Island from Feb. 27 to Mar. 5, police said.Nine of the drivers were involved in traffic crashes and five were under the age of 21.
There have been 235 DUI arrests so far this year compared with 186 at this time last year, an increase of 26 percent.
