Help sought finding stolen welders, thief on Big Island

A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person, or persons, who stole welders from two location in North Hilo on the Big Island.

A $5,000 Miller welder was taken from a Honomu home on Old Mamalahoa Highway on Jan. 28, and another $5,000 welder was taken from a business on Humuulu Trail in 'O'okala on Feb. 19.

Big Island police are asking for help in solving the case, and the owners of the welders are putting up the reward.

Police ask anyone with information about the thefts to call Officer Michael DeCoito at (808) 962-2120 or the Police Department's nonemergency number at (808) 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call CrimeStoppers at (808) 961-8300 in Hilo or (808) 329-8181 in Kona. All CrimeStoppers information is kept confidential.
