UH-Boise St is 1 of 2 Friday games on football schedule

Advertiser Staff

The University of Hawai'i will play Boise State on Nov. 23, a Friday football showdown, for ESPN as part of the Western Athletic Conference schedule to be announced.

It will be one of two Friday dates for UH, which will play at San Jose State, Oct. 12.

The Boise State-UH game, pitting last season's top two WAC teams, will be played at Aloha Stadium. A time has not been announced.

The WAC formally announced its league schedule this afternoon, although UH has not completed the nonconference portion of its schedule.

The Warriors still have two dates to fill — Sept. 1 and Nov. 3 — in order to achieve a 13-game schedule that is back-loaded with home games.

So far, UH will play only one home game in September, Sept. 22 against Charleston Southern. Three of the Warriors' final four games will be played at home.

"Now that we know the WAC dates, we'll finalize our non-conference match-ups and be prepared to release them Monday afternoon," UH Athletic Director Frazier said. "I realize that fans have been anxious for the schedule to be released. However, due to many factors, this has been a difficult process and I've been working diligently to put together a non-conference schedule that is in the best interest of the football team and our fans."
