UH softball team 4-0 in tournament

Hawaii beat Boston College and Oregon State Thursday to remain unbeaten in the Hawaiian Airlines Spring Fling Tournament at Rainbow Wahine Stadium.

In the first game, Alana Power hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth as the Rainbow Wahine beat Boston College, 4-3.

Relief pitcher Jessica Morton worked 4· innings, allowing three hits and two unearned runs while striking out nine and walking one to earn the victory.

Ashley Obrest had given the Eagles (1-6) a 3-2 lead in the top of the eighth with a sacrifice fly.

In the nightcap, Justine Smethurst pitched a two-hitter with two strikeouts and one walk as Hawai'i beat Oregon State, 3-0.

Kate Robinson hit an RBI double during a three-run fourth inning that helped the Rainbow Wahine improve to 21-5 overall and 4-0 in the tournament.

Ta'Tyana McElroy permitted four hits and one earned run over six innings for the Beavers (14-8).
