MILILANI
Brushfire near school put out

Advertiser Staff

Fire crews spent about an hour yesterday morning extinguishing what was described as a "major brushfire" between Kamehameha Highway and Mililani Uka Elementary School.

Four fire units were dispatched to battle the blaze, which was reported at about 10 a.m.

It was the second major brushfire in as many days, and the second one near a school.

A fire Tuesday blackened about 300 acres behind Kamaile Elementary School in Wai' anae.

Yesterday, "mop-up" operations were under way in the aftermath of the Makaha blaze, fire officials said.
