HAWAI'I KAI
Roundup nets chickens, ducks

Advertiser Staff

More than 120 chickens and two ducks have been captured at the Hawai'i Kai Park and Ride facility on Keahole Street after residents complained about the constant noise from the feral animals.

Last month, residents at Kuapa Isle complained at the Hawai'i Kai Neighborhood Board meeting that the chicken population kept them awake at night.

The city hired Action Pest Control/Hawai'i Bird Control and Netting for $1,300 to trap the feral chickens.

The birds are taken to farms or given away, according to the city Department of Transportation Services.
