SUNSET BEACH
Swells bringing in higher surf

Advertiser Staff

Waves today along north shores will reach 6- to 8-foot heights, according to the National Weather Service.

Northwest and north swells are expected to peak this weekend, bringing higher waves. However, surf heights are not expected to reach advisory levels, the weather service said.

Today, surf on west shores is expected to be 3 to 5 feet, and on east shores to be 1 to 3 feet. South shore surf is expected to hit 2- to 4-foot heights.

Surf heights are measured on the face or front of waves.

Those in the water could encounter rip currents in or near any surf zone.
