'Lemon law' complaints drop to 71 in '06 vs. 80 in '05

Consumer complaints under the state's "lemon law" covering new autos dropped to 71 last year compared with 80 in 2005, according to the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs.At the same time, the value of refunds rose to $1 million in 2006, versus $919,000 the prior year. The law helps consumers who buy or lease new motor vehicles and have repeated problems getting them repaired under warranty.
