Ala Moana Hotel names new GM and assistant GM

Ala Moana Hotel has named Grant James general manager and Ron Takayama assistant general manager, according to ALM Management Services LLC, an affiliate of Outrigger Enterprises Group,

In their new positions, James is responsible for all aspects of the hotel including hotel operations, rental program owner satisfaction, and physical Association of Apartment Owners management while Takayama oversees the rooms division departments and provides support for James.

James came from Outrigger's affiliated company in Australia, where he served as general manager of the Outrigger Sun City Resort at Surfers Paradise before being promoted to director of operations for Outrigger's Australia division. He first joined Outrigger as general manager of the Outrigger Marshall Islands Resort in 2002.

Takayama spent many years as director of rooms for the Ala Moana Hotel before stepping in as acting general manager in late 2005.

Takayama has more than 30 years in the hospitality industry field and started his career as a management trainee for Maui Inter-Continental Wailea.

The Ala Moana Hotel has just completed a multi-million-dollar renovation.
