H-3 reopens on Kane'ohe side after fuel spill

Advertiser Staff

H-3 Freeway town-bound in the Kane'ohe area reopened about 1 p.m. today after being shut down for less than two hours to allow a crew to clean a half-mile fuel spill.

The spill came from a tractor trailer between the Kamehameha Highway and Likelike Highway on-ramps.

A fire official said 100 gallons spilled onto the freeway.

Pacific Environmental Corp., which is contracted by the state Department of Transportation, cleaned up the spill, a DOT spokeswoman said.
